Information Technology is a blend of Computer Science, Communication Engineering and Management science. Modern economic growth has been ignited by a rapid and persistent upgrading of technology and scientific know- how which has made IT a desire factor of business survival and growth. The department of Information Technology at TIST established in the year 2002 provides students with strong foundation and technological skills in the areas like assembly & high level language programming, Database Design & management, Data mining and warehousing, Knowledge Engineering, Multimedia Computing & Mobile computing, Software testing methods and tools. The department has full fledged and well equipped laboratories with internet facilities, functioning with solar energy support and experienced staff members specialized in various fields. Students are given three minor projects (RDBMS, Multimedia and Web based) and a major project in this eight semester B.Tech program to enhance learning process.

 The department is actively involved in research and developmental activities. The departmental research areas are Data Mining; Cryptography and data security. Apart from the curriculum the department is developing core projects like campus networking, Library Management etc .The IT department student association IGNIT conducts seminars and inter-college technical fests regularly. The Department has also introduced special certificate courses such as LINUX, ORACLE so that students can go to industry and business straightway. The IT & CSE departments conduct an industrial training program “campus connect” with the support of “Infosys” which equips the students to meet the demands of any software industry.
