The institute proposes to foster Research & Development Programmes well in advance before the commencement of P.G. Programmes. Each department is entrusted with the task of developing a centre of excellence, where research work can be carried out in identified areas.
Campus Connect Programme by M/s. Infosys Technologies Limited
TISTsigned a MoU with M/s. Infosys Technologies Limited to becomea CampusConnectPartnerCollege from the academic year, 2008-09 onwards. The major objective of this MoU is to enrich the technical education process and to jointly work for enhancing the quality of education imparted to students of all the engineering disciplines. The ultimate aim of this Programme is to enhance employability skill sets, both technical and non technical areas of engineering students.
Industry Institute Interaction Cell
TIST has entered into an MoU with a few Companies for conducting training classes to expose students to the industry needs. In addition, regular Industrial visits are arranged for students to give them a feel of the industry ambience. Industry experts are called upon to give seminars in the college, to maintain industry contacts. Students are encouraged to take up application-oriented projects in the industry.

L & T Ltd., one of the largest and most respected companies in India’s private sectors has set up (switch gear products and display Centre) Industry –Institute- Interaction Centre in the college.

University Coimbatore- Research Centre
Anna University Coimbatore has recognized Toc H Institute of Science & Technology (TIST) as an approved research centre for collaborative Research Programme in the areas of Humanities & Science, Engineering and Technology and in Management Studies.
Green House Technologies
TIST has entered into an MoU with Sterling Farms Pvt. Ltd. to set up a pilot demonstration unit of a green house, specifically designed for the Kerala farmer. This project is expected to grow as a nodal centre for developing technologies in hydroponics.
